Jinkies! Just recently, in answer to a mysterious invitation, part of the White Stag crew hopped into the Mystery Wagon and joined up with the Haunted Niagara Team for an overnight ghost hunt in Old Fort Niagara. What follows are just a few of the better shots of orbs and mists that Thelma-thorn was able to get with her magical HP digital camera!
Curiosity seems to have brought out some early guests as we unpack in the North Redout Barracks in the Fort.
No, that not a Redcoat ghost, but fellow hunter and tour guide, Roger. Seems like more than the guests were interested in hearing their history...
Roger gives a cannon demo.
No, that's not the moon behind the lighthouse, but an orb in front of it! The moon was half full that night.
One of our more sensitive hunters commented on all the mist. I didn't see any mist so I took picture where she was pointing. This is what showed up. You can almost see a face appearing in the heaviest part...
Sure graveyards are scarey at night, especially after hearing of hobgoblin sightings. But this one section had a particularly creepy feel. Lo and behold...
This fellow was our most documented orb, showing up in a series of 4 consecutive photos and travelling. This was the best image we caught of it, however. Unbeknown to us at the time, there have been well documented sightings of an orb in this very room. One such tale was of an electrician who thought he'd left his flashlight on when a light appeared behind him. He pulled out the flashlight to find it off, but the light was still there. When he turned around, a glowing orb was behind him. He refused to finish the job.
While checking out the cannon post which overlooks Fort George across the lake, we got some distinctly odd feelings and cold spots. This is what appeared over the one cold area.
On the 2nd floor of the French Castle , there were three locked rooms. Upon approaching the first room, my camera's battery completely died. I took a few steps away from the door and everything began to work as normal. We took this experience to Roger. He relayed another tale about a ghostly apparition that had appeared in the Commandant's room, removed papers from behind a stone in the wall and disappeared. We returned and he unlocked the door. Inside the room we captured these orbs.
One place we'd really hoped to get images, was the in priest's room behind this chapel. Alas no images appeared (though we have yet to examine the recordings made.) However, these orbs appeared over the candles. Apparently during a reenactment a few years ago, a man - not a believer in ghosts, decided to sleep in this room as he was playing the part of a Jesuit priest. Three times he had heard loud banging and assumed it was fellow reenactors playing pranks on him. He went to bed and shortly thereafter the bed began to thrash about. Needless to say he believes in ghosts now!
All in all, there were approximately thirty photos containing orbs and mists, out of 112 pictures taken with one camera. We had reports of cold spots, bad feelings, voices murmering and enough contact on the spirit boards to tire us out. I would have to agree that this remains one of the most haunted sights in the Western NY region.
